John Cleese was previously married to American actress, writer, and psychotherapist Connie Booth. The two met in the United States. They got married in 1968 after dating for some time. Connie became John’s first wife. They have only one child Cynthia Cleese. The ex-couple have worked together in the past. They became famous for writing the scripts and starring in both renditions of the sitcom Fawlty Towers.

John Cleese and Connie Booth’s marriage ended in 1978. After the divorce, they remained close friends. Their daughter Cynthia appeared alongside her father in 1983’s A Fish Called Wanda. Cynthia was married. She is also a mother. She is the mother of Olivia Solomon and Evan Solomon. She was the wife of Ed Solomon, a writer, and director.

Barbara Trentham

John Cleese’s second marriage was to the late American model and actress Barbara Trentham who was born Barbara Lynn Schilling. The pair met at a Monty Python performance. At the time, Barbara was employed in Los Angeles as a reporter and producer of Those Amazing Animals.

They dated and got married in 1981. They gave birth to Camilla Cleese on January 24, 1984, in England, United Kingdom. John Cleese and Barbara Trentham separated in 1987 and divorced three years later in 1990. Barbara died on August 2, 2013, at age 68, from complications from leukemia. She died at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Alyce Faye Eichelberger

John Cleese met American psychotherapist, author, and talk radio host Alyce Faye Eichelberger Cleese in 1990. They got married in 1992. In 2008, they decided to get divorced. The details of the divorce settlement only became known to the public in August 2009. Alyce walked away with £12 million in finance and assets.

Alyce Faye Eichelberger also got £600,000 a year for seven years. According to John Cleese, “What I find so unfair is that if we both died today, her children would get much more than mine … I got off lightly.
